Valeria Martinez
Operations Steward

Valeria Martinez is a program strategist, systems builder, and community leader with over eight years of experience designing, implementing, and stewarding complex, mission-driven initiatives across the education, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. She specializes in translating vision into sustainable systems by building partnerships, developing operational infrastructure, managing grant-funded programs, and creating collaborative processes that center both people and purpose.
Valeria is also the founder of The Balam Sanctuary, a community-rooted organization dedicated to cultivating healing, belonging, and personal transformation through culturally grounded and trauma-informed experiences. She designs and facilitates retreats, women's circles, yoga experiences, leadership programs, and community gatherings that weave together contemplative practice, ancestral wisdom, nature, and collective care. Her work creates spaces where participants can reconnect with themselves, deepen relationships with community, and explore healing through reflection, ceremony, and embodied practice.
As Sakala's Operations Steward, Valeria brings a deep commitment to stewarding systems that are both effective and human-centered. She is passionate about creating governance structures, organizational practices, and collaborative processes that honor relationship, distribute leadership, and support long-term sustainability. She believes that when systems are built with intention and integrity, they become containers that allow people, purpose, and community to flourish together.
Thank you so much for this opportunity! I am excited to support and co-create together!
