Otitechmocnelilih! I'm Sequoia, The Founder of The Dead Roots, & soon to be published author. I am a devoted practitioner of Latin Indigenous roots with a medical background. As a Memento Mori Companion, I am generally focused on teaching the vital value of functional health, spirituality, & decolonization through yoga, nutrition, training, guidance facilitation, & public outreach. With a vast background of human rights advocacy ranging from small time fundraisers to a successful submission within the United Nations, I have a deep passion for making sure everyone's voices are heard & (in a working system) the chain of command is followed to be sure change is made. Having been a Montessori student & graduate, I learned & practiced the Peace Process, & have become an effective mediator in conflict & confusion resolution. While working for Amnesty International, I received training in political de-escalation for the more sensitive topics & have ran multiple campaigns for change from a middle school rally to bring attention to bullying to a rally at the capital in college to bring attention to red flag laws in the context of domestic violence. I'm a huge believer that all human life is sacred, voices should be heard no matter how distant, & systems must be equitably put in place to protect the rights, dignity, passion, & creativity of all persons & life on Earth. I trust I'll serve the Community Task Force well as a great asset to the Sakala Community by working to establish connections with outside spaces to build a deeper understanding of the community we exist within, while remaining present for the work we must do to together within Sakala.
