We’re stepping into an exciting new chapter — evolving from a community gathering space into a nonprofit organization. This transition allows us to deepen our impact, expand accessibility, and ensure that Sakala remains a space built with the community, not just for it.

Becoming a nonprofit helps us align our structure with our values of equity, inclusion, and community-centered leadership — so that the heart of Sakala truly reflects the people it serves.

From Vision to Action- the next chapter of Sakala is here.
Over the last month, our community gathered in two Vision Room circles to share dreams, name possibilities, and imagine what Sakala can become. Now, we shift into the phase where vision meets movement.

The Activation Room is the space where we roll up our sleeves and begin building. Together, we’ll map out the next steps and initiate the development of Sakala’s Stewardship Council—a decolonized, community-rooted model of shared leadership and collective care.

Whether you joined the Vision Rooms, feel called to be part of this unfolding chapter, or are simply passionate about co-creating a community-driven Sakala, you’re invited to step in.

The Stewardship Council
The Stewardship Council is our decolonized board — a small, committed circle of stewards who help guide vision, care for the ecosystem, and hold long-term responsibility for Sakala’s growth and integrity.​
The Community Task Force
The Task Force is our broader, community-rooted collective — a space for voices, ideas, and lived experience to be shared and heard. This group helps ensure that Sakala evolves in conversation with the community it serves, offering insight, feedback, and collaborative support along the way.​
